Hot as it was, the evening was a fabulous success, earning friends and funds for SRG. Oh and you should have been there to taste the fabulous food from Kabab Ji Syrian Cuisine KSC!

And who knew that being able to cut potatoes in half would be so rewarding?

We celebrate the achievements of young Ukrainian musicians and the support they have received from local teachers and Shaftesbury Refugee Group.

This important moment mid year is a chance for community to gather in the healing arms of nature to renew friendships and confirm bonds of love.

It was delicious, heartwarming and incredibly enjoyable. Most importantly, it gave us the chance to feel a little bit closer to home, surrounded by our Ukrainian community here in the UK. Part of the culture of our area, this day of picnics, horses and racing was a welcome distraction from the increased targetting of innocent people and civilian infrastructure in Kyiv.

For many this was a first trip to a race course and the overwhelming view was, ‘What a great day out!’

Vyshyvanka Day celebrates the traditional embroidered shirt, the vyshyvanka, as a symbol of Ukrainian identity, resilience, and cultural continuity. Marked annually on the third Thursday of May, it unites Ukrainians worldwide in expressing pride, solidarity, remembrance, and connection to heritage, especially during periods of national struggle and resistance.

Shaftesbury’s Grosvenor Arms hosted a gathering of local Ukrainians.

The National Trust in Dorset has some magnificent buildings and beautiful gardens and parks.

The National Trust is very keen to see these accessible to refugees and has granted us 90 Acorn day passes

Each pass admits 2 adults and up to 6 children to National Trust properties across the country.

Our well attended quiz nights have built a community around the needs of refugees in our immediate area.

They are fun, sometimes frustrating but always well fed occasions.

On a beautiful sunny spring evening family, friends and colleagues of Jenny Willoughby gathered to plant a memorial to her life.

A tree was dedicated to her and we shared our love and thanks on doves in memory of her lifelong support for displaced people, peace and harmony.

2025 was a busy year and we were able to provide appreciated support to displaced people in our area.

The Trustees met in public to consider the reports on the year and to appoint a new Trustee.

A weekend away in mid winter to the warm, welcoming and wonderful Magdalen Farm.

A time to reconnect with nature, be with community and learn some new skills.

We are delighted to support places for young refugees on this confidence boosting, 2 day course over February half term.

On Thursday 11th December at 7.30pm outside the Town Hall, during late night shopping, we gathered to hear beautiful singing by a Ukrainian choir .

Singing a mixture of folk songs and carols our hearts were warmed by the choir, despite the wind and rain.

A small collection raised funds for the rehabilitation centres that some Ukrainian soldiers sadly need.

A winter’s day in Winchester to visit the glorious cathedral and experience the Christmas market and decorated City centre.

A special time to be together and look for gifts for loved ones.

Thanks to the Winchester Deanery for our free entry and to Vale Coaches for their careful and caring transport.

Our latest quiz was a success with 60 participants and a healthy addition to our bank balance.

Lots of fun was had with some eggcelent practical tasks and some puzzling rounds to pore over.
