Hot quizzing on a night of wins

The starting temperature in Motcombe Village Hall was 34C when the 10 teams arrived for an evening of quizzing. This may be why the three teams that filled the top places were ‘Hot Quizzers’, ‘Hot and Sticky’ and ‘The Heat is On’.

All winners on the night!

Names do not always point to success as our friends The Solomons would show in the end but in this case, the top team scored 99 points from a potential 130 which was very ‘Hot Quizzing’ indeed.

Their success was reached by good general knowledge and the uncanny ability to cut potatoes into equal mass.

Sharing potatoes into two equal masses. The winners did so to a difference of zero (0)g!

Sharing was an ability that scored the maximum 20 points in the practical round and which was called on again, as we needed a ‘penalty potato cut off’ to separate them from their rivals Hot and Sticky.

Well Done to The Hot Quizzers, Tania, Ness, Julie and Stephen., winners of the fabulous hamper prepared by Roz.

A person new to our quiz night came up at the end to tell us, ‘This was the weirdest and best quiz night I have ever been to!’. Judge for yourself with these sample quiz sheet questions.

The quiz is only ever part of a richer experience that these nights provide. There is community and laughter with friends too but always the highlight is the feast of food that the Syrian buffet provides. This night we were fed by Bayan and Imad and served by them and Louai. The food selection and quality was incomparable. Cooking for 64 in the heat of our unreal summer weather was a feat of endurance but worth it for the enjoyment it gave us all. Thank you Kabab Ji Syrian Cuisine (KSC)
