Quiz Night in March

8 teams of quizzers joined us for an evening of fun, frustrating questions and fantastic food.

There were 10 point scoring rounds for a total of 110 points. The hardest round by far was sorting 4 items into order by criteria such as length, weight or age. There was great success for the names of inventors and their discoveries and for our regular music round (Karaoke animals). People also know their trees and magazines but locating Turkmenistan on a map was a challenge that few could meet!

Which magazine?

The practical task went with a bang for some as they learnt the limits of balloon inflation in an attempt to make the biggest balloon by circumference.

The winning team was ‘Steve’s Crew’ scoring highly on balloon inflation and the only team to get top marks in naming countries of the Middle East. Their score of 88 was enough to win the hamper and beat ‘Weekenders’ and ‘Rascals’ into second and third place. ‘The Hopeless Hopefuls’ got the wooden spoon with 72, still a good score!

A well deserved hamper prize win for Steve’s Crew

The food was provided by The Hammoud’s Kitchen and cooked by Ammar and Samar. The generous portions of hot and tasty food were a highlight and something that makes these evenings very special for us all.

The raffles and lottery were as usual an opportunity for people to show their generosity. The donations we receive regularly from friends such as Folde Dorset , Julia, Sara, Guy, Becks, Rachel and Roz are hugely appreciated. They all contributed to our £200 profit on the evening.

Jamie Randall of Randall Photos was on hand to take his wonderful pictures. Gail and Graham of Motcombe Memorial Hall were there to provide a bar and the audio support. Thanks to all.
