Vyshyvanka Day 2025
On a bright, early summer evening the local community of Ukrainians celebrated their cultural heritage and recognised the sovereignty of Ukraine by wearing their Vyshyvanka through Shaftesbury.
This was a chance to meet and share a moment of community in what is sadly an uncertain and dangerous time for Ukraine and its people.

The evening ended in a picnic in St James Park, with embroidery inspired activity and a chance for children and adults to catch up on news here and at home.

Keri Jones of Alfred radio was on hand to hear more of the experience of Ukrainians in our area and learn about the significance of the Day and the Vyshyvanka.
Listen to Viktoria, David, Elisa and Anastasia here. From 5 minutes 36secs.
Some of the glorious photographs of the event were taken by Jamie Randall, of Randall Photos.
